The practice was established by John Matyas in 1986 (previously John Matyas Architects), and maintains a team Architectural and Interior Design staff with extensive project experience, capable of delivering a diverse range of high-quality residential and commercial projects to exceptional standards.
After being located in Middle Park for 37 years, our studio relocated to Brighton, VIC in March 2023.

Founding Director
After graduating from RMIT, John started his working life in the commercial Architectural sector. In the late 1980’s John founded his own Architectural Studio known as ‘John Matyas Architects’ in Middle Park, which has since grown to a team of 8-12 Architectural and Interior Design staff and rebranded to ‘Matyas Architects’. Specialising in in high-end Residential and commercial Architecture, John leads each project a with a focus on client relationships and the development of design ideas with pragmatic solutions.
nina matyas
Associate Interior Designer
With a Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Hons) from Monash University, Nina has been working in the industry for 10+ years. During her time she has worked on a wide range of projects, from single residential, multi-residential, hotels, hospitality and commercial office spaces. She joined Matyas Architects in 2019, taking on the role of our Lead Interior Designer.
Ben Pak Poy
Senior Project Architect
Ben graduated from the University of Canberra in Environmental Design in 1997 & Architecture with Honors in 2000. Since then he has worked as a registered Architect for over 2 decades on a range of projects from large institutional, commercial , multi-residential to single houses. Ben has been a key member of our team since 2005, managing the Construction Phase of our projects through to completion.

Design Architect and 3D Visualiser
Graduating with a Masters of Architecture (Prof) at Unitec in Auckland, New Zealand, Harold has 11 years industry experience and has been working for Matyas Architects since 2015. Harold’s expertise lies in the building design and Town Planning aspect of each project.

Graduate Architect and Interior Documenter
Asli graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2006, whilst also completing a Masters degree in Art History. She worked for a Design and Construction company in Turkiye until joining our Interiors team in 2017 when she moved to Australia.

Project Architect
Ronald is an experienced architect with a degree from Melbourne University and over 23 years in the field. His primary expertise lies in residential Architecture. Additionally, he has participated in international architectural competitions, focusing on high-density developments and commercial towers, showcasing his versatility and commitment to innovative design.
